Do the PPRC piping products have a long life expectancy?
Generally plastics have comparatively long life if compared to other convention materials used for plumbing, similarly PPRC piping system does have long life expectancy provide it is applied / used as per recommended application and laying procedures. The approximate life expectancy of a quality PPRC piping system is above 50 years under suitable condition.
Why PPRC wiring is forbidden under sunlight?
A pure PPRC material / wiring tends to be degenerated when exposed to sunlight, the UV rays of sun light cause oxidation resulting in cracking and within a few years the piping system collapses. In external applications, the degradation shows up as a network of fine cracks and crazes that become deeper and more severe with time of exposure and consequently the whole piping system becomes futile.
Why PPRC wiring is not allowed to be used in natural gas transmission?
The Natural gas is composed primarily of methane, which may damage / ruin the organic structure of co-polymer within short time and resulting failure of the wiring and God forbid may cause any devastating accident due to wiring failure.
How Master PPRC piping system can be an ideal solution for its end user?
Master PPRC piping system gives / offers, cost effectiveness, leak proof jointing, safe and hygienic water supply with the pipes and fitting produced from pure and virgin raw material, easy availability across the country and above all long service life with after sales services to its end user. The whole package of convenience, care and comfort makes Master PPRC the best choice.
Does the metal insert (Brass) slips, rotates if being over tighten by the technician or plumber?
Protruded metal legs on the periphery / bottom (6 in number) of the insert prevents circular displacement, while the longitudinal and circular slots and groves made on the length of insert prevents linear displacement while sanitary fittings are tightened, however if the tightening force gets exceeded from the tolerable force there may occur a failure and the brass insert will get slipped within the component. There is a point to be noted that metal and plastic are two different materials which may not blend together homogenously like same materials, it is so in PPRC metal plus plastic fittings both material are fused together with the above technique which obviously have their limitations.
Can any alterations or extensions be made in concealed PPRC piping?
In concealed piping alterations or extensions are not possible therefore the fusion machines are designed taper in shape and portable in handling to reach to repair work area conveniently.
Are Master PPRC fittings compatible with local metal fittings and valves?
Yes they easily integrate well with local piping system.
Do you suggest proper support to pipe's wiring while installed through the duct?
Proper clamping or support is very necessary through the duct particularly when the span is long both horizontally or vertically.
Is it recommended to make a "U" loop when the horizontal length of pipe exceeds 5 meters?
When the length of pipe exceeds 5 meters, it is absolutely recommended to use expansion pipe segment or if the space doesn't permit an offset can be made to compensate linear expansion.
Why a brass insert cracks when sanitary fittings are tightened in it?
Brass is an alloy made of copper and zinc, during its metallurgical processing and heat treatment due to some processing flaws it may become brittle / hard and the brass insert made of such brass tend to crack easily if the sanitary fittings are tightened in it. In addition to above there are some other factors which may crack a brass insert, these are:
  • CP fittings having incompatible male threads with female threads of a brass insert
  • Use of barrel nipple instead of CP nipple
  • Use of G.I. Plugs instead of plastic screw plugs
  • Use of cotton thread for sealing instead of Teflon tape
  • Over tightening of fittings
  • Poor workmanship
How a perfect fusion joint can be made?
To get a perfect fusion joint follow the sequence:
  • Put on fusion matrix (dies) on fusion machine warming plate as per pipe and fitting size
  • Set your fusion machine thermostat between 250 – 270 Celsius accordingly considering surrounding and ambient temperature
  • Switch on power supply of fusion machine
  • Let the fusion machine attain desired temperature
  • Cut pipe to the marking with help of cutter
  • Clean surfaces of pipe and fitting to be welded with a piece of cotton cloth
  • Mark pipe to required socket length
  • Insert pipe and fitting in hot male and female fusion matrix
  • Heat pipe & fitting to specified time simultaneously
  • As both the surfaces (outer surface of pipe and inner surface of fitting) get prepared for welding / fusion remove them simultaneously and without delay insert pipe into the fitting as recommended
  • Don't twist or tilt pipe or fitting while insertion
  • Give specific time for cooling to the welded area
  • Within minutes a perfect fusion joint is obtained
Is it easy to maintain exact right angle of the fitting with pipe while fusion joinery?
Yes it is very easy by using / aligning reference colored line on pipes and the right angle markings on the fittings surface.
Is UPVC pipe safe?
Polyvinyl Chloride is an inert material and in chemistry, the term inert is used to describe a substance that is not chemically reactive so when definition is spoken it is safe or not hazardous for human life in its pure state. However, when this inert material is used to manufacture different products some non food grade modifiers / additives are ought to be added in it to acquire certain chemical and physical properties according to the applications of that specific product. In such cases this inert material can be unsafe for human consumption. e.g. UPVC pipes are made for the supply drinking water and for sewerage system both (food and non food grade applications), if such pipes are manufactured using zinc oxides as one of the additives then it safe for health, on the other hand if lead oxide is used instead zinc oxides then using these pipes for the supply of drinking water would be very risky as these pipes may leach out carcinogenic chemicals.
Does UPVC pipe leaches toxic chemicals? Is it toxic?
Yes! These pipes may be harmful if toxic modifiers are used for pipe manufacturing.
What are the main applications for PVC pipe in construction industry?
There are numerous uses of PVC / UPVC, however in construction and building industry UPVC pipes are used for the distribution and supply of drinking water and for sewerage systems
What colors are used for PVC pipe?
Manufacturing standards allow manufacturers to produce pipes in various colors, despite some colors are designated to pipes for specific applications.
Does UPVC pipe have a long life expectancy?
Yes UPVC pipes do have long life expectancy provided if they are produced and installed as per internationally recommended standards; such pipes and fitting may yield over 100 years of life.
